Our Training

At Love Your Paws we proudly use only kind, reward based training methods that are scientifically proven to work.  What this means is that we reward our dogs for offering us the behaviours that we want.  Rewards can be toys, play time, praise or food and usually a combination of all of them.  We teach our dog's new skills and behaviours in small chunks that they understand and slowly increase the difficulty as their understanding deepens; in doing so we also building confidence in   our dogs.  As a full member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers I agree with and adhere to their code of ethics.

The wonderful side effects of our training methods are...

- increased confidence in your puppy / dog
- teaching your dog how to make really good choices
- a really strong bond between you and your dog
- a better understanding of your dog's needs through understanding their body language

We aim to make all of our training fun for you and your dog.  It is important to us that you understand why we teach the things we do and the benefits of doing so to you and your dog.

Dog training is not a 'one size fits all' exercise and we will spend time getting to know you and your dog to find the right solutions for you.

Training doesn't happen overnight, it takes time and commitment.  It doesn't need to be difficult though, we can achieve a lot through training in the small pockets of time we have during the day; while the kettle is boiling, during the adverts, or whilst out on walks.  However, if you choose to work with us, we will expect you to put in the same amount of commitment and effort into training your dog that we do!

My promise to you.  I won't judge you, your dog or their behaviour.  I have been there and understand.  I will be there to help you to achieve your training goals and be your biggest supporter on your training journey.
