Winter Adventures!

Social training walks for dogs who have attended Love Your Paws training classes and are happy both on and off lead (with reliable recall) and who are happy in the company of other dogs and people.
*PLEASE NOTE: if you haven’t attended an Adventure Walk before please check that this is the right session for you prior to booking.

As with everything in life, if we stop practising the skills that we learn, they can easily fade away.  Adventure Walks are a great way to keep your training skills up, ask me about training challenges you may be facing and chat to other like minded dog owners.  Your dogs also get to brush up on their skills, tell me about what they’ve been up to (yes, they do talk to me!) and have fun with other sociable dogs.

We practice the core skills of lead walking, recall and focus but as the walks are real life training in real life settings we also use the events that naturally occur as training opportunities; for example meeting other dogs, crossing roads, seeing wild life and livestock and practicing sit / place in new surroundings.

Who are Adventure Walks for?

Dogs who are 9 months plus who have attended training classes or had 1-2-1 training with Love Your Paws and who want to keep their skills honed, or would enjoy a social walk with other dogs.  If your dog is ready for Adventure walks we have probably already talked about it... if you're unsure please ASK BEFORE booking as training walks may be more suitable. Our training walks are just as fun but have a greater emphasis on training.

How long are the Adventures?

The sessions are 60 to 90 minutes.

Where are the Adventures?

We choose a variety of different locations around south west Cornwall making the most of the woodland, beach, moorland, coastal path and countryside walks available to us.  Some walks are longer then others, some have uneven / steep terrain and may include stiles; please double check before booking that the walk is suitable for you / your dog.

Simon and Coco - a year since my review of Love Your Paws Adventure walks- Simon and Coco continue to enjoy and really look forward to them . They've come on so well - Coco has made lots of doggy friends of all sizes and she's learnt how to be "buddies" and play respecting their individual variations. All the dogs enjoy it and it's amazing how much the confidence of even the most nervous ones has grown. Vicki is a great trainer with a modern approach to the dog/human relationship with an emphasis on fun and bonding with your best friend.

Nearly another year on and Jazzy and I are still enjoying our Adventure Walks. Being an "only" dog it's lovely to see her running free with her dog friends - old and new. These days my mobility isn't great so with these lovely walks I can take Jazzy places I wouldn't go on my own - in case I fall over and can't get back up! I'm often at the back with Jazzy at the front playing with the other dogs but I know the other owners and Vicki will watch out for her. The walks are always fun with lots of interesting discussions as we go along.

These walks are wonderful!
We used to do exciting walks like this with all our previous dogs but, since retiring, my mobility issues have seriously restricted us. Simon had got into the habit of walking Coco alone just locally each day. It was exercise but not really very stimulating for either of them. I booked them onto one of Vickis Adventure Walks and they both enjoyed it so much they've become "regulars" !
It's so good for them both - a bit of socialisation , exploring different ground (often places we used to enjoy together) and great fun! Coco loves it! She squeaks with pleasure as they stop at the meeting points and she sees her doggy friends ! It's improved her confidence around other dogs so much and I really enjoy hearing all about it and seeing the photos Vicki posts on Facebook when they return! Adventure Walks with LoveYourPaws really are 5* !

Adventure walks are just the best! They are a great way for dogs and owners to socialise with one another especially if like me, you normally walk on your own with your 4 legged friend. Vicki is always very open to answer any questions and often instigates a topic for discussion amongst us humans. There is often a real mix of breeds on the walks which makes it very interesting to watch how they each enjoy the walk and interact with one another.. I recently gatecrashed a Puppy Adventure Walk and this was equally as enjoyable. Vicki is a superb dog trainer - you would not find better. I can say this with total honesty as Bramble and I have been with her for the past 2 1/2 years, completing puppy classes, loose lead walking, 1-2-1 sessions, recall and scent training. Love Your Paws Dog Training is 5 years old this week -Happy Birthday and just keep doing what you are doing. You are amazing.

Jazzy and I both thoroughly enjoy the Adventure Walks. Vicki is always ready to help, answer any questions we may have and give encouragement when needed. It's lovely seeing how all the dogs have progressed, enjoying each others company and the freedom to run around together and yet they all respond well to their owners when they call them back when needed - sitting quietly while another dog walker goes past and then the reward of freedom again.

Vicki continues to pass on her knowledge to help me be the best dog owner I can be and Nancy be the best dog she can be 😁
Invaluable! Lovely relaxed walking but picking up skills along the way and becoming aware all our dogs are unique but have so many traits in common so learning from each other as well as we walk and talk. Thank you

I can not speak to highly of the way that Vicki has helped me and thus my dog to develop. She is always calm and thus is a very supportive trainer, weather it be on a one-to-one basis or larger classes or the adventure walks. We, dog and me, have been to a range of these classes as our dog has grown. My pooch is not great at meeting others when she is on the lead so we started with a 1-2-1, then a series of classes and now we do the adventure walks and scent training. All this has been a fantastic way to introduce her to new dogs/people and new walks. Vicki has given me the confidence to allow her off the lead, and to trust that she will stick with me and the group and to come back to me when called. She is always happy to answer questions and I would whole heartedly and sincerely recommend anyone to Vicki at Love Your Paws anytime.
