Puppy Adventures training walks are the ultimate way to put all of the skills you learn in puppy class into practice in a real life setting and give your puppy lots of socialisation opportunities.
With puppy training we often find that puppies will do everything asked of them during puppy class, but then when they get out and about, it all goes out of the window! Our training walks bridge the gap between puppy class (both Zoom and In Person classes) and teach you how to transfer your skills to real life situations.
Our Puppy Adventures take place in different locations so that they can get used to a range of environments, sights and smells. On every walk we practice the core skills of lead walking and focus but as the walks are real life training in real life settings we also use the events that naturally occur as training opportunities. Meeting other dogs, crossing roads, seeing wild life and livestock, practicing sit / place in new surroundings… we even once saw a man dressed as a flamingo pushing a wheelbarrow; if there’s an opportunity for teaching our puppies, we’ll take it.
Puppies who are fully vaccinated and have been out for a few walks already up to pups who are 5 months old. Puppies should be going to, or have already been to, puppy class (any reward based puppy class) as the walks are designed to put the skills you learn in class into practice in real life.
The session is around one hour, but the distance we walk is suitable for puppies, we allow them time to sniff, explore and process all of the experiences they are having. There’s always time at the end of the walk for puppy related questions too!
We vary the locations so that the puppies can experience a variety of environments; some of our favourites places are Helston Boating Pond, King George’s Memorial Walk in Hayle, Godolphin Woods, Tehidy Woods, the Towans.
